Brendan stories

So Brendan has been learning about careers at school this week (doctors, fireman, pilots, etc). He even told his teachers about the "aw" tools. They asked what tools a doctor uses and Brendan said the "aw tools". His teacher said "What do you mean?". Brendan goes, "You know, the ones they put in your mouth and you say 'aw'". Ha!

Tonight at dinner Justin and I were asking Brendan about school and what he was learning. I asked Brendan what he wanted to be when he grows up and he said "I want to be a brother". God, are you listening?

Well, I am off the endocrinologist on Monday so let's hope she can fix me!

Funny Conversation

So yesterday morning my mom and I ran some errands and then we took Brendan to McDonalds for lunch. On our way home Brendan tells me from the backseat about his "new friend".

B: Mommy I made a new friend.
Me: That's great honey! What's his name?
B: I can't tell you. It's a secret.
Me: Brendan we don't keep secrets. You need to tell mommy everything.
B: I can't tell you because it's a girlfriend (all the while smiling mischievously)
Me: Girlfriend? What's her name?
B: I met her in the cave. I don't know her name. It's the girl in the pink jacket.

I was laughing so hard! I have no idea where he got the "girlfriend" term because we don't use that word around here. I really don't want Brendan going to school talking about girlfriends and boyfriends! It was pretty funny though. I guess McDonalds play place is the new hookup spot for preschoolers.

Oh, and Brendan is posing with the special pancakes Grams made him. They made robots, spiders, flowers, and a B and the number 4. Cute and tasty!!!

Happy Birthday Brendan!

We celebrated Brendan's 4th birthday last Sunday with all of his friends. And it was FUN! We had a Batman/Spiderman birthday party. Here's Brendan doing his spiderman pose before the party started. He looks so scary and serious ;-)
Spiderman and his mom.
This year I decided to do cupcakes instead of a cake like we usually do. And I decided that I would make them! Well, I can't take credit for these cute cupcakes. My mom made them and she did a great job! I still can't believe there's the number 4 candle in there. When I was shopping for Brendan's birthday I grabbed a 3 candle by mistake. I'm thinking subconsciously I am not ready to accept the fact that Brendan is 4...sniff.
The party table.
And goody bags.
More decor.
I love this picture! My mom flew in last minute for Brendan's birthday. I didn't tell Brendan she was coming. I told him I had a surprise for him and we had to go pick it up. We drove to the airport and picked up Grams. He was so excited!!! She was supposed to stay for a few days but got snowed in! Her flight back home was cancelled so she got to stay for a whole week! We couldn't have been more thrilled!!!
Oh yes, and the big thrill of the party...a bounce house! Spiderman is waiting for the party to start. It started getting dark and gray right before everyone got here and was cold.
But they jumped anyway!

We had a marshmallow gun fight. The boys had a hard time getting the marshmallows out, but it was a lot of fun!
Singing to the birthday boy. I think he loved having all eyes on him ;-) He was not shy at all!

Yum-O! Grams made some good cupcakes!
Opening some great gifts. He got a lot of batman stuff!
Opening birthday cards from Papa Willmon and Grandma Teri and his old babysitter Karen.
Lining up all his new stuff. Check it out!
The food was great too!
Playing with all his new toys. I still haven't figured out the focus on my new lens. Sorry for the blurred picture.
Brendan had a great birthday and had so much fun celebrating with his friends. I still can't believe he's 4!!!

Christmas Day

And finally here we are on Christmas Day! I love stockings! When I was a kid my sister and I always got stuffed animals in our stockings and now the grandkids do too. So fun!
We woke up a little after 7 a.m. Brendan was dying to get out of bed and we finally let him when we heard Erin, Jake and Mary Cate. The other boys and grandparents were still sleeping.

Brendan ran into the living room to see if Santa had come. When he saw that indeed he had, Brendan said "I was a good boy!!!". Hmmmm...I guess someone was a little nervous about getting a lump of coal.
And the unwrapping fun began!

My dad gets a box of baseball cards every single year. This has been going on since I was little so I can't imagine how many boxes he has now!
We were a little obsessed with Bumble (Abominable Snowman) from the Rudolph movie this year . Brendan picked out a stuffed Bumble at Build a Bear so these little suckers were perfect for the three boys. Luke got Rudolph.
And the rest of the morning was spent eating breakfast and playing with toys. So fun.
I've got one more Christmas post to go and then I am caught up! Next up, Nana's house!!!

Little Miss

Girlfriend gets her own post. Being the only girl in the family has it's perks ;-) She's pretty cute huh?
Is this not a great picture? If only I could figure out how to do bokeh (blur the background) this picture would have totally rocked!
She's a happy baby too!
And I love that she is already sporting some jewelry, even if it only the iron on kind. Love her. I think I need to get me one of these.

This Crazy Kid

Well...we think he's pretty smart.

On Tuesday his teacher told me he taught the class the word "camouflage" when they were learning about lizards hiding from predators in the desert. Wow! I have no idea where he learned that word (although I'm guessing a little Diego helped) but I'm so proud he knew not just the word but connected it to what his teacher was talking about. And we found a chameleon at Kohl's for only $5 which was perfect for my camouflage talking little boy.

Then on Wednesday his teacher told Justin that Brendan's comprehension was "through the roof"! That is music to this first grade teacher's ears!!! She said he was making all kinds of connections to what they were talking about and was really getting it. Yeah!

Today we were driving in the car and Brendan says "Mommy what are those pokey things in the desert?". Cactus I say. He goes "Oh mom, if there's only one it's called cactus and if there are bunch of them it's called cacti." Say what! That sounds like something we'd be talking about in first grade since I do teach plurals and all.

Now if we could just all those letters and sounds under our belt ;-

Oh and this picture is from when we had just gotten in from our looooong drive home from Oklahoma. It was about 2 p.m. and Justin and I were unpacking the car. Brendan decided to keep himself busy doing a little unpacking of his own. By the time we noticed what was going on over in the corner by the door he had already worked his way through 6 or 7 Hershey's kisses! A man after my own heart ;-) Love him.

One more thing. Brendan laid down next to me on the couch tonight and said in his saddest voice, "Mom, I want a blue baby". Because babies come in colors. We're working on it son...
